Another year over, just like that!
My December reading reflects the busyness of a month filled with festivities & outings on top of an increase in activity at work. Slim books, quick reads, essays, short stories and rereads did the trick – books that were easy to pick and put down.
Happy New Year one and all!

Story of the Month: I thoroughly enjoyed The Last Devil to Die, Cecil and Mistletoe Madness but my pick for the month is Deborah Levy’s memoir Things I Don’t Want to Know. It left me wanting more, so I can see that the two follow up volumes will feature in my NY reading lists.
Blogging Milestones: My Reading Orwell 2024 announcement post was my 2000th published post. It was also my highest trending December post for the month.
This post was written on the traditional land of the Wangal clan, one of the 29 clans of the Eora Nation within the Sydney basin. This Reading Life recognises the continuous custodianship & connection to Country of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for the lands, seas & skies on which we live. They are this nations first storytellers. |
You are in “countdown” mode…just 3 more hours to go before Australia shows us what REAL fireworks display should be done! I watch it every year on BBC World News…at 2 pm CET. I have some cheese/crackers and a small glass of prosecco to toast you and all your reading achievements (2023) and plans in 2024. Gelukkig Nieuwjaar, Brona!

Thay are a lot of fun, although the fourth was rather sad in places. They are characters to take into your heart.
