Sheila @ bookjourney is hosting a first book of 2015 meme – this is the holiday snap of me with my books that I have submitted.
I never read just one book, especially when on holidays.
I like to have a fiction and non-fiction choice plus a spare. This year I chose a book of short stories.
Mademoiselle is fascinating. Chanel was a driven genius in her field, who reinvented herself numerous times over. She treated family & friends terribly but struggled to understand why she was left on her own. Being rich, famous & glamorous doesn’t buy you love, happiness or loyalty in the end!
North and South is my first readalong for the new year. I hope to start it tonight if I’m not too tired from a day at the theme parks with the kids!
Only The Animals is gorgeous stuff. Three stories in and wondering where Dovey will take me next.

Happy new year! I've still got three hours to go before it's 2015 here! Quiet evening for me, my boyfriend's working. Going to watch TV, then after midnight I'm going to read one of my 2015 Challenge books until he gets home. Enjoy your book! 😀

Happy New Year Brona. What a great stack of holiday reading you have. I haven't quite sorted my new year reading just yet. I'll be reading some Grimm's fairy tales this month, and hoping for a few treats. I don't have time off just yet though. Working today, but have a terrible summer cold just at the minute, and not looking forward to it.

As they say in Dutch \” fris en fruitig\” ( …fresh as a daisy) this morning. Limited myself to 1,5 glass of the 'bubbly'! 5 km run is done dusted. Now ready to start reading! Of Human Bondage – Alan Turning: The Enigma – Pas Pleurer ( L. Salvayre won Prix Goncourt 2014). Needed time to recharge my batteries in December. Blogpost template is going to be different in 2015: max 1000 words ( including quotes) and succient description of the book. I want to put more effort into commentary instead of literature and language 'info dump'. Love your book choices…..! Gelukkig Nieuwjaar!

Clear head, but tired all day thanks to late & early start to get the boys to theme park = zero reading time.First day of the year was a fab family day = the best kind of day!Hope day 1 of the NY with the boyfriend was memorable for you too 🙂

Lots of people talking about The Turning – I'll have to check it out when I get back to work. Glad you were fris en fruitig this morning too. I enjoyed 3 beers over 5 hrs, the only problem all day was lethargy from the extreme humidity the North Coast of NSW puts on this time of year!!

The Tweed District is a far north on the coast of NSW as you can go before it becomes Queensland! My dad grew up here & we spent many childhood Christmases here until Grndma died. All my aunts, uncles & cousins have gathered here for the first time in about 15 yrs. Wonderful times 🙂

I love reading of Coco Chanel. She is a woman of endless fascination. I read The Secret of Chanel No. 5 which was not only a story of the perfume, but the story of her, this year. It was magnificent! Happy New Year! Happy Reading!

I read Mademoiselle a few months ago and really enjoyed it. It wasn't flawless but it was so interesting! What a life she led! Enjoy your reading and happy New Year!

Sounds like a good way to start the year! I managed to escape the north European weather to spend Christmas and New Year in Mallorca, with sunshine and 'fris en fruitig' weather. Lovely. 'North and South' I also saw as a TV series, years ago. It was very good, and the book should be a joy to read. Coco Chanel sounds interesting. I love to read about women who make their own life. My main aim for 2015 reading is my 'connected reading' and lowering the number of books on my TBR shelves. Happy 2015 reading year!

Mademoiselle sounds really interesting.I never seem to read non-fiction, I am such a fiction lover. I did, however, get a non-fiction book on the Vikings for Christmas so I am looking forward to that!Happy New Year 🙂

Ooohh, Coco Chanel – what an interesting woman. I usually have multiple books going at the same time. At least one print and one audio. Hope you are enjoying all your choices. And sunny and sultry sounds wonderful from where I'm sitting in the freezing Midwestern USA. 🙂

Thanks for the heads up about Gortner's book – I'll keep an eye out for it. I like a fictionalised bio..& the genre should suit Chanel perfectly since she fabricated and reimagined her own life story endlessly!Lovely to have another Aussie on board – thank you 🙂
